3 Weeks Old

I can’t believe that my little man is 3 weeks old! It seems like we just got home from the hospital and now we are about to embark on our first major road trip. This week was a bit of a tough one with some lasting tummy troubles that caused some minor cramping and some major fits – well for Tyler they were pretty major to me. He is still sleeping really well, but after a dose of “Gripe Water” one evening he slept an exceptionally long time and had unfortunately started a new feeding schedule that has me getting up twice during the night rather than the once a night I had come to know and love! The other disappointment for week number 3 has been that the wind has been absolutely ridiculous so Tyler and I haven’t really gotten out of the house for any walks or porch time. We have still spent our quality time together napping, snuggling, and dancing around the house. He has learned to be very fond of bathtime – that is until he is removed from his tub into the cold air at which point he makes sure that I remember how stong his lungs are and how red his face can turn. No matter what we are doing I just can’t get enough of this little boy. He has certainly brought more joy and love to my life in these short 3 weeks than I ever would have thought possible!

One of the most exciting moments of week 3 was meeting the cousins!!! On Friday my mom had meetings in San Marcos and my sister and kiddos had a field trip to the Alamo and then my niece was having her UIL competition (I think for homeschooling they actually use PSI rather than UIL) in New Braunfles, so wouldn’t luck have it that they needed a meeting place for Mandi to drop the boys off with Mom. Although the visit was very brief, it was very fun and a wonderful first-time meeting for all involved! And just a little bragging on my wonderful niece...she not only placed in all 4 areas she competed in, but she will also be going to compete for state in May in Ft. Worth!

Happy Clay - just barely bigger than Tyler, so he didn't get to do any holding

Finally I have to say we did finish off our third week with a bang. This afternoon during one of our favorite times (diaper changing time), Tyler once again peed all over me, him, and my bed! Really…when am I going to learn not to use my bed as a changing table??? I only have 2 separate changing tables in the house! So rather than sticking to Momma’s plan of getting a bath right before hitting the road tomorrow, my little angel got to enjoy a bath this afternoon…and so did Momma! Gotta love it!

All clean after making a BIG mess and getting a bath
Sure hope I like sports when I get older!!!
And on a different note, and a different child, Leah was named Comal ISD student of the month on Wednesday! This is the second time this has happened, and for any of you who don’t know exactly how exceptional this accomplishment is, please allow me to enlighten you. The student of the month is not only chosen for her grade at her school, but is chosen for the entire school district (and this is a HUGE school district, very large 5A). She was nominated by her teachers and administration at her school based on her academics as well as her exceptional behavior and attitude. She is doing so well and truly enjoys school. We couldn’t possibly be more proud!

Leah on the day she was named to Comal ISD Student of the Month
So wish us luck and safe travels as we head to Mississippi tomorrow afternoon after all the girls get out of school. We will be there for all of Spring Break and will be returning either next Saturday or Sunday.
